The Rainbow Dancers Darling Fool.hanne kaunicnik & hannah rettl
The Rainbow Dancers Darling Fool is a coming-of-age story about a personified star on earth learning to grow into its form over many millennia. (Everything is set in motion by an encounter in an observatory. There the star sees an old star and begins its journey through worldly realms rather than astrological ones, with different physical rules, layers, and social forms of identity. Sensing in this environment shapes how the star constitutes its subjectivity.)short film, 9’

When the nine-to-five crosses paths with the club kid, a discarded stuffed toy, a piece of plastic, a leftover trace of the night begin to gain a quiet presence of their own. These objects act as brief openings into something instinctive - moments in which a childlike sensibility resurfaces within the spectator.Showcasing beauty hidden in everyday life that we often lose sight of as we grow older. I wanted to reconnect with a childlike mindset, one that doesn’t constantly question purpose or productivity, but simply follows instinct and curiosity.

The project is an attempt to capture the sweaty, dimmed and fascinating vibe of horse-racing in Hong Kong. I captured it whilst watching with just a vage idea of what the edit could look like, but always with the intention to make it feel like a late summer night in a new mega-city when you step outside for the first time. documentary, 2’
